Fewer slides, more responsibility - Dr Björn Beele receives the Wuppertal Teaching Lion 2024

Dr Björn Beele receives the award in the category "Course with 10 to 49 participants" for the course in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry. The award comes with prize money of 2,000 euros, which will be earmarked for the further support of teaching.
"Good teaching should enable sustainable learning. There is no point in overloading students with an excessive amount of slides and content if nothing is learned in a sustainable and lasting way," says Dr Beele in an interview.
The basis for awarding the Teaching Lions was the regular course evaluation, in which students completed questionnaires with various categories. The completed questionnaires were evaluated by the University Service "Quality in Studies and Teaching". The teaching award winners were then selected by a committee from the student councils of all faculties.
We would like to congratulate Dr Björn Beele on this award!
