Dr Vivien Michaelis receives two prestigious young talent awards

Food chemist Dr Vivien Michaelis was honoured for her research by both the Society for Environmental Mutation Research and the German Society for Minerals and Trace Elements.

At the 35th conference of the Gesellschaft für Umwelt-Mutationsforschung e.V. (GUM) in Ludwigshafen, food chemist Dr Vivien Michaelis was presented with the "GUM Young Scientist Award" and at the 39th conference of the German Society for Minerals and Trace Elements in Karlsruhe, she received the "Heinz Zumkley Prize" for her outstanding achievements and publications in the field of mineral and trace element research.

Dr Michaelis is a postdoctoral researcher in the working group of Prof Julia Bornhorst. Her main research interests are the effects of essential food components and food contaminants in connection with pregnancy, with a focus on the toxic trace element mercury and essential trace elements.
