Biologist Marcellina Rola from the Evolution and Biodiversity working group was honoured with a poster award.

Last week, the NFDI4 Microbiota Annual Conference 2025 took place in Cologne under the motto "From Lab to Publication - Bridging the Gap with Best Practices". Here, Ms Marcellina Rola presented her research project on "Conventional herbicides and the health of coral reefs: Atrazine as a case study" as part of a poster session.

Ms Marcellina Rola has been researching in the Evolution and Biodiversity group of Prof. Gregor Christa since August 2024 and is particularly interested in the specific microorganismic acclimatisation processes and their functions in coral formations with photosymbiotic corals (tropical shallow water reefs) and in non-photosymbiotic systems (coral gardens in mesophotic to aphotic zones), especially with regard to the possible application of these research results in restoration and conservation projects.

With the poster presentation of her research results, Ms Rola convinced at the NFDI4 Microbiota Annual Conference 2025 and received a poster award.

We would like to congratulate Ms Marcellina Rola on this award!
